- La Cruche et l'orange - We discovered this wonderful pewter cruche in an antique shop in the medieval village of Tourtour, Provence. The late afternoon sun cast a warm glow on the aged pewter surface as it emerged from the cool transparent background. It was one of those 'must paint' subjects. A still life portraying fruit needs to invite the viewer to take a bite. These luscious, juicy oranges gave the perfect balance and accompaniment to create this nostalgic atmosphere and mood.
